We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been selected as a finalist in the Entertainment, Gaming & Content category for the 11th annual SXSW Pitch®. We will present our 3-minute pitch on March 18, among four other companies in our category, and participate in a 5-minute Q&A with three judges as part of SXSW Online.
SXSW Pitch is the marquee event of South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Online, taking place March 17-18. Leading startups from around the world will showcase some of the most impressive technology innovations to a panel of hand-picked judges and a virtual audience. Out of more than 500 companies that applied to present at SXSW Pitch 2021, holoride was selected among the 40 finalists spanning 8 separate categories, and is one of two German companies to make it to the final round.
“For the second consecutive year, we’re excited and honored to be selected as a finalist for the annual SXSW Pitch to present how our technology is shaping the future of in-vehicle entertainment,” said Nils Wollny, CEO and co-founder of holoride. “SXSW Pitch provides us the opportunity to engage with leading content creators, developers, and OEMs to further advance our capabilities, enabling us to deliver technology that transforms the way we spend our time commuting.”
After last year’s cancellation and realizing that we won’t be able to walk the streets of Austin, we are more than happy and proud to have made it again to the final round and compete against some of the most innovative startups in tech. SXSW Pitch has helped turn big ideas into big potential and further proven to accelerate the success stories for many participating startups.
In addition to Entertainment, Gaming & Content pitches, further categories include: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics & Voice, Enterprise & Smart Data, Future of Work, Health, Wearables & Wellbeing, Innovative World Technologies, Smart Cities, Transportation & Logistics, and Social & Culture. The winners for each category will be announced during the SXSW Pitch Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 18 at 3:05 pm (CST).
SXSW Pitch is having an incredible year in the recruiting, and showcasing of, the best and the brightest startups from around the globe,” said SXSW Pitch Event Producer Chris Valentine. “Despite the global pandemic, the startup community has responded positively to our call for participation, and with this, SXSW is able to feature an incredible class of startups that we believe will change the landscape of the technology world.”

About holoride

The German startup holoride creates an entirely new media category for passengers by connecting XR content with data points from the vehicle in real-time. These data points include physical feedback like acceleration and steering, traffic data, as well as travel route and time.
Open to all content creators and car companies, the technology has the power to change backseat entertainment forever; holoride technology significantly reduces motion sickness, opens up a new layer of immersion in games or educational journeys, and creates a stunningly immersive experience.
The tech startup was founded end of 2018 in Munich, Germany by Nils Wollny, Marcus Kuehne, Daniel Profendiner, and Audi, which holds a minority stake in the startup. It was hailed four times “Best of CES” (Las Vegas, Jan 2019) and has been acknowledged as “Best Inventions of 2019” by TIME Magazine. In 2021, holoride went on to win the prestigious SXSW Pitch and was also named Best in Show.
